Jemma is a Sydney based artist specialising in Printmaking and Painting. Having completed her Masters of Teaching (secondary) in 2017, she now Teaches visual arts in the inner Sydney area and continues to create art in every free moment. Her work dances between the traditions and structure of fine arts mixed with contemporary themes and execution.
When printing and painting she draws inspiration from the outside world. Nature, animals, current topics in society, experiences and in some cases her own imagination.
Currently, her works explore her fascination with shadows, both light and dark. What they reveal, conceal and the emotions they are able to stir and create within the viewer. Her prints are often produced in only black and white, highlighting shadows, textures, negative spaces and the power light holds as it illuminates objects and animals.
